Austin Fletcher Photographs
Most pictures prefer being left alone by words. However, I would like to give you a very short insight into the motivation of my work, as it might help you to explain why you don´t like what you see.
Fascination is the source of creative energy. Most of my photographs reflect the fascination I have for visual traces of a sensual, living world with a slight touch of melancholy. For me the beauty of a landscape, a house or a face lie in the second layer that is created by the influence of time. The latter inflicts scars on anything capable of integrating the experience of joy, pain, frustration, the forces of the elements or simply the burden of life into its inner structure and making it unique.
We are currently losing this beauty, as more and more people live streamlined lives in a streamlined, aseptic environment full of aseptic materials which may age, but never mature. In my pictures I try to preserve some of this passing world to celebrate its beauty and dignity.
